Diversity in Nurse Anesthesia Mentorship Program Information Session
I just returned home from the Diversity in Anesthesia Mentorship Program Information Session! The session was so informative and I left there feeling so inspired. I tell you, that Wallena Gould, CRNA (and PhD student) is unstoppable. She pulled this event together with great success. Everyone from the AANA Vice President, Steve Alves to incoming CRNA students spoke to the group and answered questions. Those in attendance received packets filled with invaluable information related to anesthesia. The newly accepted students provided those in the process of applying to anesthesia schools advice on things like what you should be expecting in interview, how to strengthen your application, and considerations for school choices. The ones who have just graduated gave advice to the RN's as well as SRNA's on what to expect throughout the program. It was just wonderful and I am so glad that I attended. Lena is so very encouraging and gracious. I am more than certain that this event was an arduous task to pull together but Lena made it look so effortless. She has so much to offer and I am extremely appreciative of her time. If you have never attended one of her information sessions, you should. I promise you will leave encouraged, enpowered, and armed with all the tools necessary to successfully progress through an anesthesia program. Oh, and breakfast and a delicious lunch were provided =)
