Job Description:

Qualifications:
The Nursing Department at California State University Northridge invites applications for a tenure track position in its expanding nursing program. Candidates must hold a master’s degree in nursing and an earned doctorate in nursing or in a related field. ABD candidates will be considered, but must have completed the doctorate before the time of appointment (August 22 2012). Clinical experience of two or more years within the last five years is required. Evidence of teaching competency in upper division baccalaureate and/or in graduate nursing education, evidence of scholarship/research activities and a valid and active California Registered Nurse License are required. Candidates must also be qualified or eligible for California Board of Registered Nursing approval to teach in both didactic and clinical supervision settings and with clinical competency in one or more specialties as defined by the California BRN (i.e., medical-surgical, pediatrics, OB/Gyn, psych/mental health, geriatrics). Applicant must have physical ability with or without accommodation to teach in clinical settings, and demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and to mentoring a diverse student population. Experience with on-line teaching and instructional technology is highly desirable.

At time of appointment, the successful candidate, if not a U.S. citizen, must have authorization from the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services to work in the United States.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will teach in the nursing program in the Department of Nursing and participate in the review of curriculum and of Department policies and procedures as appropriate. Candidates must be available to teach or supervise students in clinical settings on weekdays, and possible weekends. Responsibilities will also include student advisement, admissions, implementation of policies/procedures, activities that support instruction, and assisting in program evaluation and accreditation. In addition, the appointee will be responsible for demonstration of appropriate scholarship, professional activity, and service to the University and community.. For purposes of reappointment, emphasis will be placed on teaching effectiveness, scholarship and contributions to the field, and service to the University and community.
