The School of Nursing opened its doors in 1970, offering a baccalaureate degree (BSN) to full-time students. Today, the Nursing Program offers three options leading to the BSN: the four year BSN program; the RN to BSN and the LPN to BSN and four options for graduate study: the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN); the MSN/MBA; the Direct Entry MSN for those with a previous, non-nursing Bachelor’s Degree and the RN to MSN for the RN with no previous Bachelor’s degree. Known for its diversity, Salem State University students represent the local communities, the state and many international places.
Salem State University School of Nursing enjoys a reputation of excellence locally and regionally and is CCNE accredited. The BSN graduates have a concrete foundation in nursing theory and practical clinical skills. The MSN graduates have excellent preparation in current and developing theory, are prepared for leadership roles in nursing and have a solid foundation for doctoral studies.

Job Description:
Salem State University, School of Nursing invites applications for the position of Associate Dean for the School of Nursing. The person selected for this position will serve as the professional and academic leader of all School of Nursing programs and is the identified head of the nursing unit. Assists the Associate Provost/Dean College of Health and Human Services in advancing the academic mission by manifesting the leadership required to achieve standards of excellence in instruction with measurable outcomes for faculty and students. Will network and continue to build relationships with University departments as well as external stakeholders.
Required qualifications include:
1. Academic credentials and experience suitable to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Doctorate and registered nurse licensure required.
2. Academic credentials and experience suitable for appointment to the rank of professor within the
School of Nursing.
3. Demonstrated experience as a faculty member and administrator in higher education.
4. Highly-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Thorough knowledge of and experience with higher education principles, practices, and procedures.
6. Established body of research, including grants and publications.
