Bunker Hill Community College is a multi-campus urban institution. The Charlestown Campus is situated on 42 acres in the historic Charlestown section of Boston, Massachusetts. The College has a campus in Chelsea, Massachusetts, in the historic Old Post Office Building in Bellingham Square.
The College operates four satellite campuses in the greater Boston area located at the Education and Training Institute of the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center in East Boston, at Malden High School, at the Mystic Activity Center in Somerville, and at Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción (I.B.A.)/Villa Victoria in Boston's South End.Founded in 1973, BHCC enrolls approximately 13,000 students in day, afternoon, evening, late-evening, midnight, weekend, and web-based and distance-learning courses and programs each semester. The College is internationally recognized for the development of individualized and alternative methods of instruction. The College is a leader in the application of distance-learning technologies and computer-based methodologies that enhance and strengthen the learning environment.
BHCC is the largest community college in Massachusetts. The average age of students is 27. More than half of BHCC's students are women and 63 percent are persons of color. The majority work full or part time while attending college. Approximately 35 percent of BHCC's students reside in the city of Boston and 81 percent live within 10 miles of the College campuses.
Bunker Hill Community College incorporates multicultural and international perspectives in its courses, programs and institutional climate. With some 734 international students from more than 95 countries speaking 75 different languages, BHCC is one of the most diverse and cosmopolitan colleges in New England. The College has one of the state's largest course offerings in English as a Second Language. A representative list of the native languages spoken by students includes Russian, Vietnamese, Haitian Creole, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Arabic and Italian.The College offers associate degree programs as well as certificate programs in a wide variety of technical fields. These academic and technical programs respond to the workforce needs of the local and regional economy. FULL-TIME TENURE TRACK FACULTY REQUIREMENTS: BHCC seeks full-time faculty who demonstrate a passion for teaching and a desire to join faculty and staff to expand and create new strategies for student success. Faculty must be experienced in teaching in learning communities or willing to become proficient in learning community pedagogy and practice once hired, as well as be adept in the assessment of learning outcomes and in the use of technology in the classroom. Additionally, BHCC seeks faculty who value advising students and wish to contribute fully to the life of the College. Faculty may be assigned courses at one or more of the College’s locations. Ability to instruct online is a plus. Further, applicants must have proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and student population.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Primarily responsible for instructional preparation and teaching of nursing courses offered at the Associate Degree level in the classroom, clinical, and laboratory settings consistent with the philosophy and conceptual framework of the Nurse Education Department and Bunker Hill Community College.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Teach Fundamentals and Medical/Surgical Nursing including physical health assessments, critical thinking, pharmacology, therapeutic communications and clinical skills.
- Provide clinical instruction to nursing students.
- Evaluate student performance in the classroom and clinical setting.
- Utilize a variety of appropriate teaching strategies to promote students' critical thinking and understanding including learning communities.
- Develop instructional material consistent with course objectives.
- Participate in determining appropriate goals and objectives of nursing course and assist in developing course standards.
- Use new simulations and computer technologies in the classroom.
- Refer students to the College’s support resources and services, including tutoring as needed.
- Actively participate in on-going professional development.
- Maintain expertise and currency in the area of teaching responsibility.
- Comply with the duties as stipulated in the Massachusetts Community College Council Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Requirements:
- Minimum Education: Master's degree in Nursing and current licensure or eligibility as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts
- Minimum Experience: Five-seven years full-time experience in Nursing or its equivalent within the last five years
- Two years full time teaching and clinical practice experience with background sufficient to teach theoretical and clinical content in Fundamentals and Medical/Surgical Nursing for the Weekend Program (Community college teaching experience preferred.)
Additional Information:
SALARY RANGE: $60,000.00-$64,000.00. ACTUAL SALARY WILL BE COMMENSURATE WITH EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE IN ACCORDANCE WITH MCCC/MTA COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT. RELOCATION STIPEND MAY BE AVAILABLE.
