We are particularly interested in faculty who will strengthen our initiatives in health disparities, health promotion, adult health, obesity, physical activity, rehabilitation, psychiatric mental health, and older adult care, and who are committed to teaching a diverse student population in an urban setting. Our current teaching needs are in the undergraduate and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs.<
The College of Nursing and Health Sciences and its Office of Research offers strong internal and external mentoring programs for faculty, including grant proposal and manuscript preparation. The College offers a wide range of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary collaborative research opportunities. Current faculty collaborations include those with numerous major academic and medical institutions in and around Boston including the Dana Farber/Harvard Cancer Center, Children's Hospital, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and many community, public, and private health care agencies. The National Cancer Institute funded University of Massachusetts Boston-Dana Farber/Harvard Cancer Care Center grant, "Comprehensive Minority Institution Cancer Center Partnership," has enabled faculty at both institutions to strengthen and extend partnerships for research, PhD training, and community outreach. Our collaborative Interdisciplinary Youth Fitness Training and Research Center (GoKids Boston) with Children's Hospital Boston offers innovative opportunities for research and advanced nursing practice.
We are highly committed to excellence in teaching. The resources of the University's Center for Improvement in Teaching are available to all faculty. The BS and MS nursing programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The MS and our new post-MS Doctor of Nursing Practice programs focus on preparation of Family Nurse Practitioners, Adult/Gerontological Nurse Practitioners, and Acute and Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialists. The PhD in nursing program focuses on the individual and population-related health policy.
