Illinois Central College is seeking a qualified person to provide leadership and supervision, as well as coordinate development, evaluation and improvement of the Nursing Programs at Illinois Central College, including Associate Degree Nursing (ADN), Practical Nursing (PN), LPN to RN Completion, and Nursing Assistant Programs. This position is directly responsible to the Dean of Health Careers and Downtown campus.

BASIC DUTIES
Assist in the development, evaluation, and modification of the program curriculum; assist in the development of program policies regarding admission, selection, evaluation, and retention of students; coordinate the ongoing review/revision of department admissions policies and oversee admission of qualified students to the program, as spaces are defined; provide information to students regarding the application procedure and admission process; assisting in the recruitment, development, evaluation, and retention of program faculty; coordinate student clinical instruction and supervision with clinical agency personnel; work with nursing lab coordinator/staff to ensure/maintain quality campus lab experiences for students; provide for student welfare in collaboration with program faculty; assist in student recruitment by promoting and publicizing the program through personal contact, College promotional facilities, and other acceptable media; evaluate student graduation applications; prepare, submit and administer the approved program budget to maintain and modify or expand the program; establish and maintain a working relationship with clinical agencies, community organizations and other professional organizations for the successful operation of the program within the community; serve as liaison to nursing program clinical affiliates, assists in maintaining currency of clinical sites, and ensure that all accrediting agency requirements relative to clinical affiliates are met; attend community and professional meetings to represent the College, Department and Program; work with an advisory committee to improve the function and content of the program to facilitate program goal attainment, as well as meet stakeholders’ needs; provide leadership for development and maintenance of an academic environment conducive to learning; ensure that program faculty and students meet and maintain all licensure and other program requirements such as immunizations and BLS; remain current in nursing and education by participating in appropriate professional development activities; meet with the Dean on a regular basis for program update, review and enhancement; actively participate in institutional and, as appropriate, community activities that support the institution’s mission; knows, understands and acts in accordance with Illinois Central College’s Cougar CARE Principles, including connects with students, owns the situation, uses opportunities to build relationships, goes the extra mile, acts promptly and professionally and remembers to work as a team and perform related duties as required.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in Nursing; two or more years of full-time teaching in higher education; two or more years as a Department Chair, Program Coordinator, or similar academic leadership; and currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Doctorate preferred. Community college teaching and administrative experience preferred.
