GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Utilizes the nursing process to meet a variety of health care needs with ambulatory care a primary focus. Works with a variety of health care professionals and security officers in a correctional environment. Functions as team leader as assigned.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological psychosocial and emotional needs of the patient within the framework established by the correctional system.
* Uses effective communication skills by demonstrating respect concern and courtesy in all interpersonal relationships.
* Uses current knowledge to promote a safe environment for providing health care to patients.
* Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients families visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional responsible and courteous environment.
* Promotes effective working relations as part of a department/unit to facilitate the department/unit's ability to meet its goal and objectives.
* Performs other related duties as assigned/needed.
* Performs other specific duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Registered Professional Nurse with current license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
* It is an essential part of the job that the employer can ask the employee to work beyond his/her regularly scheduled hours.
