The City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) District 508, is the largest community college system in Illinois and one of the largest in the nation, with 5,800 faculty and staff serving 120,000 students at seven campuses and thirteen satellite sites city-wide. The system also oversees: the Washburne Culinary Institute, the French Pastry School, two restaurants, five Child Development Centers, the Center for Distance learning, the Workforce Institute, the public broadcast station WYCC-TV Channel 20 and radio station WKKC-FM 89.3FM.

Job Description:
This position bridges the gap between the college and the needs of the nursing students. Helps students make academic progress, while promoting independent learning and self-reliance.
Provide academic assistance to assigned tutees, either in a group or individually. Establish liaison with the instructor and work under the instructor’s direction, if necessary, to assist the student. Attends periodic training sessions given by staff members to increase competency in working with students.
Maintain records on each student who is being tutored, including follow-up and periodic assessment. Schedule tutoring appointments. Provide evaluations and other reports as required by staff.
Help students develop positive attitudes toward learning and studying; develop self-confidence and reduce anxiety or fear of failure in academic work; develop a high level of motivation in academic areas. Assist students in achieving a better understanding of specific subject material and in improving academic capabilities in designated areas. Help students develop the study skills necessary for academic success. Establish and maintain rapport with the assigned student(s).
Serve as a role model for students being served. Assist in designing and implementing class cooperative projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Nursing. Appropriate work experience and with current State Licensure.
Possess excellent communication skills, and the ability to work with a diverse student body. Must be self-directed and able to complete assignments in a timely manner.
